The Plan to Eat Meal Planner can deliver your Meal Plan into any calendar application that supports the iCalendar format (most popular calendar applications such as Apple’s iCal, Google Calendar, and Microsoft Outlook use the iCalendar format). In other words, you can see your Plan to Eat Meal Plan on your phone, tablet, or in whatever desktop calendar software you are already using.
How to set up the calendar feeds:
- Log into your Plan to Eat account, click into your Planner, and click on the Meal Planner options button (it’s the gear icon in the upper right).
- There are 3 links that can feed into your iCal application
- The first link is for Recipes.
- The second link is for Ingredients.
- The third link is for Notes

- Click the link for Recipes, Ingredients, or Notes — whichever you want. After you click the link you will see that the text can be copied. Copy this text by pressing command-C.
- At the bottom of this dialogue box you have the option to “View recipes as all day events”, or “View recipes at meal times; (Breakfast) 7am, (Lunch) 12pm, (Supper) 6pm.” Please note: You may need to scroll down in the Meal Planner Options window to see the iCal feed options at the bottom of the box.
- After you have copied the link and selected your options, click the Save Settings button.
Subscribing to your feed

Calendar on the Mac
- Open Calendar and go to File > New Calendar Subscription.
- Paste (command-P) the URL link that you copied from your Plan to Eat account.
- Insert the options that you would like for that calendar feed. You can change the name, color, or other options. In particular note that by default the calendar is set to automatically refresh every week. You may want this to be more frequent if having an up-to-date calendar is important to you. Click OK to save these options.
- Voila! Your recipes, ingredients, or notes will now show up in your calendar.
Installing the feed on your iPhone or iPad
For those using Apple’s iCloud installation onto your other devices happens without you knowing it. Once you install the feeds into your desktop version of iCal and refresh your calendar (View > Refresh Calendars), all of your devices will share those feeds. It’s an easy way to keep your iPhone, iPad, and Desktop calendars in sync.
It is important to know what is for dinner. And if you don’t like answering repetitive questions from others in your household, it is important that they do too.
